Hario Polaris is a modern electronic scale designed for pour-over brewing methods. It’s ideal for both home use and coffee shops. Its greatest advantages include elegant design and the ability to simultaneously measure weight, track brewing time, and indicate the required amount of water based on set coffee-to-water ratio.
DESIGN
If you're a fan of good design, the Hario Polaris is for you. The design is characterized by a minimalist, elegant, and modern form. You can be assured of high-quality materials and attention to every detail. The housing is made from high-quality, smooth, matte plastic.
With its appropriate dimensions (165 mm x 127 mm x 28 mm), the scale can accommodate a variety of accessories for alternative brewing methods, such as a Chemex, V60, or AeroPress.
FEATURES
Time and weight are displayed on a clear, backlit LCD screen. With an accuracy of up to 0.1 grams and a measurement range up to 2 kilograms, this scale is highly versatile. The scale is easily operated via touch buttons.
The Hario Polaris is equipped with a water measurement indicator based on set proportions.
Operation is simple: set the desired coffee-to-water ratio, add the coffee, and the indicator shows the amount of water needed. Additionally, a percentage indicator shows how much of the required water has already been added.
The Hario Polaris has three modes of operation:
- manual, where the timer is started manually,
- automatic, where the timer starts automatically when pouring begins,
- automatic + pouring indicator based on set proportions.

The device is powered by three AA batteries (included). Silicone feet prevent the device from slipping.
The CoffeeNose: I have always been a fan of external batteries operated scales. Of course you use rechargeable batteries. This way your scale can never be compromised by battery problems or charging cable problems that happen with many scales from different brands that use internal batteries and usb cables.
On the coffee brewing side this sacle makes it easy for beginners and people that are not the best with math to follow a brew recipe. No need to pull bring your phone and open an app. That is at the same time it's limitation. No app means no flow rate, no measuring 100grams of milk or rice based on density and weight recipe, etc.
Like most coffee scales this scale can also do most kitchen weighing jobs <2kg.
