💧 Filtered Directly Inside the Water Tank

CLARIS Smart+ uses JURA’s professional up-flow principle.

Instead of filtering the entire reservoir at once, it filters the amount of water required whenever the machine prepares coffee, hot water, or steam.

The filtration material helps:

➕ What Is the Extra “Plus”?

At the base of the CLARIS Smart+ cartridge is an additional capsule containing natural active ingredients.

The natural movement of water through the reservoir allows water to circulate gently around this capsule. This helps stabilise the water inside the tank and reduces deposits around the reservoir base.

This extra protection improves cleanliness where the water is stored—not only when it is drawn into the machine.

Compatible JURA machines communicate with the filter through RFID technology.

When a CLARIS Smart+ cartridge is installed, the machine can:

📏 Filter Capacity

The precise capacity depends on your local water hardness.

Approximate maximum capacity:

• 1–5° dH: up to 65 litres
• 6–10° dH: up to 60 litres
• 11–15° dH: up to 55 litres
• 16–20° dH: up to 50 litres
• 21–25° dH: up to 45 litres
• 26–30° dH: up to 40 litres

Harder water consumes the filter capacity more quickly.

Always replace the cartridge when instructed by the machine. When the machine is used infrequently, do not leave an old filter installed indefinitely.

CLARIS Smart+ is intended for compatible JURA automatic coffee machines equipped with the Intelligent Water System – I.W.S.®.

Before ordering, check:

• The model of your JURA machine
• The filter type shown in the machine manual
• The cartridge currently installed
• Whether an extension piece is required
• Whether the machine specifies CLARIS Smart or Smart+

CLARIS Smart+, CLARIS Blue+, CLARIS White, and CLARIS Pro cartridges are not automatically interchangeable.

⚠️ Do You Still Need to Descale?

When the Filter Is Used Correctly

According to JURA, routine descaling is not required when:

✅ CLARIS Smart+ remains installed

✅ Filter mode is active

✅ The cartridge is replaced when requested

✅ The machine is filled with suitable mains water

✅ The maintenance programme is followed correctly

The filter stabilises the scale-forming minerals before they can accumulate inside heated components.

When Descaling May Become Necessary

Your JURA may request descaling when:

⚠️ The filter was not replaced on time

⚠️ The machine was used without a filter

⚠️ Filter mode was deactivated

⚠️ Unfiltered water was used for an extended period

⚠️ The machine already contained scale before filter installation

⚠️ The machine has been purchased second-hand with an unknown history

Follow the message on the machine display and the instructions for your exact model.

Never run descaler through an installed filter cartridge.

Coffee-Oil Cleaning for Selected Automatic Machines

A water filter deals with minerals in the water.

It does not remove the coffee oils and fine coffee residue that accumulate inside the brewing unit, coffee outlet, and internal coffee pathways.

Cafetto J25 tablets are formulated to dissolve during the automatic cleaning cycles of selected fully automatic coffee machines. Cafetto recommends them for selected JURA and Krups machines.

Regular brewing-system cleaning helps remove:

Preparing cappuccino, flat white, latte, or macchiato leaves milk residue inside:

Water rinsing alone does not reliably remove heated milk fat and protein.

Cafetto Renew contains a blend of organic acids developed to dissolve mineral scale in compatible domestic coffee equipment.

However, Renew should not be presented as a routine companion to a correctly used CLARIS Smart+ filter.

Consider Renew only when:

• Your machine explicitly requests descaling
• The JURA was operated without a filter
• An exhausted filter was not replaced
• Filter mode was disabled
• You are treating another compatible appliance
• The machine instructions permit the use of powdered descaler

Before using Renew in a JURA:
