Sage Group Head Cleaner

for backflusing / blindfiltering

🧼🔧☕ Sage Group Head Cleaner (Powder Sachets) — clean espresso starts here

Coffee tastes best when your machine is clean. The Sage Group Head Cleaner is designed to clean the brew group / group head of both manual espresso machines and fully automatic machines (where applicable), removing built-up coffee oils and residue that can cause bitterness, muted flavours, and inconsistent extraction.

The newest version comes in a powder single-dose sachet format—easier to use, less mess, and minimal direct contact with the cleaning agent.

✅ What it does

  • 🧽 Removes coffee oils & residue from the brew group
  • 🌿 Odourless ingredients help preserve the pure aroma of your coffee
  • Effective in one application (when used as directed)
  • 🧴 Single-dose sachets for consistent dosing and easier handling
  • ♻️ Recyclable envelopes (less plastic compared to blister packs)

How to use (quick guide)

For manual espresso machines (with backflush-capable group):

  1. Insert blind basket (or cleaning disc) in your portafilter
  2. Add 1 sachet (or follow your machine’s cleaning program dosage)
  3. Run the backflush / cleaning cycle
  4. Rinse: repeat with clean water until clear and neutral

For automatic machines:

Use only if your machine’s manual states it supports brew group / brew circuit cleaning with powder. Many bean-to-cup machines have a dedicated cleaning program.

👃 CoffeeNose tip: Clean regularly (weekly for daily use, more often in busy environments). Old oils are the #1 reason “espresso suddenly tastes harsh.”

Pair it with the right cleaners (complete maintenance)

Keeping espresso tasty means cleaning three things:

🥛 Milk system / steam wand cleaner

For milk residues, scale and build-up in steam wands and milk circuits:

➡️ Cafetto MFC (powder or liquid)

💧 Descaler (even with filters)

Even if you use the Sage water filter, you still need descaling occasionally:

➡️ Cafetto Renew or Urnex Dezcal (powder)

👃 What we like at WB.coffee

The best cleaning products are the ones you’ll actually use. The single-dose sachets make cleaning fast, consistent, and less messy—so it’s easier to keep a routine. That routine pays off in the cup: sweeter espresso, cleaner aromatics, and more stable extractions.

Coffee recommendation (especially for milk drinks)

If you drink espresso with milk, try these naturally sweet WB.coffee blends:

Less bitterness = less sugar needed.

An espresso machine is like a car or a bycicle. Would you buy it online without a test drive? At WB.coffee we provide dedicated personal shopping (read more below at the Try before you Buy section). We can advice you on which machine and set up suits you best. Do you use it for your morning espresso or are you brewing dozens of latte's for family and friends every weekend? There are many factors to consider and what seems fancy and goodlooking might not be the best option for you.

While an espresso machine is essential, it’s only the first step; to enjoy flavorful coffee, you require a reliable grinder for freshly ground beans, high-quality coffee beans, a spotless machine, and suitable filters. Therefore, it's wise to buy an espresso machine from a specialist.

We are dedicated to offering you support with maintenance and cleaning, brewing advice, troubleshooting, choosing high-quality beans, and more. Whenever you need a replacement part or have any warranty issues, we are here to assist you.

Rest assured, we receive weekly shipments from Lelit, so if your desired color or replacement part is unavailable for direct shipping, you can place a backorder and we will have it for you in no time.

Tip from the CoffeeNose👃

Clean equipment isn’t just about aesthetics or catering to coffee purists. It has far-reaching implications for health, taste, and business operations.

Studies have shown that neglected coffee equipment can harbour harmful bacteria and moulds, especially in components exposed to milk or moisture.

Milk frothers, for instance, can become breeding grounds for pathogens if not properly cleaned. Coffee shops that overlook cleaning risk failing health inspections or, worse, endangering customer health. Use a professional milk cleaner such as Cafetto MFC Organic Milk cleaning powder.
