Features VST's new precision filters deliver consistent extraction performance over a wide range of concentration with reduced sediment. Designed to extract properly as a ristretto, normale or lungo with minimal or no change in grind setting at a fixed dose.
Filters are matched for total square area to /- 5% to ensure identical performance(typical variances of standard filters range from 50-200% of nominal).
All VST Filters are WARRANTED for ONE-YEAR and for ZERO DEFECTS and 100% of VST's filters are inspected on the VST Digital Filter Imaging System. Holes are fabricated using a new micro-machine and finishing process 100% of holes are measured on every filter for min/max range limits on area and diameter to a precision of /- 20 µm (QC report provided with every filter)
All holes are measured for circularity placement square area and blocked holes. Hole pattern is centered to /- 1.0 mm and placement is oriented for uniform extraction throughout the entire puck. Wide outlet angle to prevent filters from clogging anti-wear design ensures uniform performance for life of product.
Improved structural integrity will withstand deflection from pump cycling without premature fatigue failures (see VST Warranty)
Recommended Tamper for the VST 15-g 18-g 20-g 22-g: 58.35 /- 0.05mm diameter flat face.
the CoffeeNose👃: We have been using VST baskets in the Lab for years. They are extremely durable and well made. Works as a charm with Duomo WDT, Motta competition leveller and Motta competition tamper or Barista Hustle Tamper.
- 1. Grind in a dosing cup
- Empty the dosing cup in a (naked) portafilter with VST basket
- Use the WDT Duomo (a cheap knockoff or manual WDT tool won't give you the same results)
- Level to make the top flat. If the leveller is set a bit deeper there is often no need to tamp (tamping is just to keep the structure of the puck intact whilst inserting the portafilter in the grouphead)
- tamp lightly (if needed) to lock in the puck. Tamp a bit stronger if the roast is lighter and your shot is fast
