Hario V60 Drip Kettle AIR – 350 ml
💧 Pour-Over Control Without an Expensive Kettle
The Hario V60 Drip Kettle AIR is one of the simplest ways to improve your manual filter-coffee technique.
Instead of buying another electric gooseneck kettle, heat your water in the kettle you already own and transfer it to the AIR.
Its lightweight body and narrow pouring spout give you much more control over:
💧 Flow rate
🎯 Pour position
🌀 Agitation
⚖️ Water quantity
And because the body is transparent, you can actually see the water moving while you pour.
Hario developed the AIR specifically as an approachable pour-over kettle for beginners, while its compact dimensions and extremely low weight also make it excellent for travelling.

🪶 Light Weight = More Pouring Control
A large stainless-steel kettle filled with water can feel surprisingly heavy when you're trying to make small, accurate pours.
The AIR takes the opposite approach.
Its lightweight PCT-resin construction means most of the weight in your hand is actually the water itself.
That makes subtle movements easier and helps beginning brewers develop control over the pour stream. Hario specifically highlights the low weight as one of the features that improves pouring control.
This is particularly useful when brewing:
☕ Small V60 recipes
🌸 Delicate light roasts
💎 Rare single origins
🧪 Experimental pulse pours
💧 More Control Than Pouring Straight from Your Water Kettle
A normal household kettle is designed to:
pour water quickly.
A pour-over kettle needs to:
deliver water precisely.
With the V60 AIR you can more easily control:
💧 How quickly you pour
🎯 Where water lands
⭕ The size of your circles
🌀 How much agitation you create
⏱️ How long each pouring phase lasts
Those variables have a direct influence on extraction.
You don't necessarily need an expensive temperature-controlled kettle to learn good pour-over technique.
You first need control.
👀 Transparent – See What You're Doing
One of the AIR's most distinctive features is the semi-transparent body.
You can see:
💧 The remaining water
🌊 The water moving as you tilt the kettle
📉 How quickly the level decreases
Hario deliberately designed the transparent body to help beginners understand and control their pour.
It also makes the AIR feel more like a brewing tool than a conventional kettle.
📏 Integrated Water Markings
The body has measurement markings, which Hario describes as a memory function allowing you to estimate the amount of water without always relying on a scale.
Useful when:
🎒 Travelling
🏕️ Camping
🏢 Brewing at work
⚖️ You don't have a scale available
👃 CoffeeNose recommendation
For serious recipe development, we still prefer a scale.
The markings are useful for convenience.
A scale lets you reproduce:
exactly 250 g
rather than:
roughly somewhere around 250 ml.
☕ 350 ml Practical Capacity
The AIR has a practical capacity of:
350 ml
making it particularly well suited to smaller one-cup filter recipes.
For example:
15 g coffee
with
250 g water
fits comfortably within its intended workflow.
That makes it a natural partner for:
☕ V60 01 / 02
🌸 Origami S
🔀 Hario Switch
🚀 Pulsar Mini
🌀 AeroPress pouring
🎒 Fantastic Travel Kettle
The AIR measures only approximately:
177 × 78 × 128 mm
and Hario lists the packaged weight at approximately 200 g.
There is:
🔌 No electrical base
🔥 No heating element
🔋 No battery
⚙️ No electronics
which makes it easy to pack into:
🎒 A backpack
🧳 Suitcase
🚐 Campervan
🏕️ Camping coffee kit
🏢 Office drawer
Hario itself highlights the AIR as suitable for both beginners and travellers because of its compact, lightweight construction.
🔥 Important – This Is Not a Water Boiler
Do not heat water directly in the AIR.
Heat the water separately and then pour it into the V60 Drip Kettle AIR.
Hario explicitly states that the kettle should not be heated directly, and the product is not suitable for an open flame, oven or microwave.
Correct workflow
🔥 Heat water in your normal kettle
⬇️
💧 Transfer into the AIR
⬇️
☕ Brew your filter coffee
Simple.
🌡️ Heat-Resistant PCT Resin
The AIR is manufactured from PCT resin.
Hario USA specifies heat resistance up to 212°F / 100°C, making it suitable for freshly boiled brewing water when used as intended.
It is also dishwasher safe according to Hario USA.
🏆 Good Design Award
The V60 Drip Kettle AIR received a 2020 Good Design Award, reflecting the clever combination of:
🪶 Low weight
👀 Transparency
💧 Pour control
📏 Measurement markings
📐 Compact dimensions.
It's a good example of a coffee product where simplicity is the innovation.
👃 CoffeeNose Tip – Pouring Higher Is Not Always Better
A gooseneck-style kettle gives you control.
Use that control deliberately.
Pouring from very high
can increase:
🌀 Agitation
💥 Water impact
☕ Coffee-bed movement
Pouring close to the coffee bed
can give you:
💧 Softer water delivery
🎯 Better positional control
✨ Lower agitation
Neither is automatically better.
With a delicate washed Ethiopia or Gesha, we may deliberately use a calmer pour.
With another coffee, more agitation may help extraction.
The AIR lets you experiment without the weight of a large metal kettle getting in the way.
👃 CoffeeNose Starting Recipe
A simple V60 starting point:
🫘 Coffee
15 g
💧 Water
250 g
🌡️ Temperature
Around 92–96°C, depending on the coffee.
⚙️ Grind
Medium-fine.
1. Bloom
Pour approximately:
45–50 g
Make sure all coffee is wet.
Wait around:
30–45 seconds
2. Main Pour
Continue with controlled pours until:
250 g total water
Use the AIR to keep the flow calm and consistent rather than dumping water aggressively into the brewer.
3. Taste
Thin, sharp or sour?
Try:
⚙️ Finer grind
🌡️ Hotter water
🌀 Slightly more agitation
Dry or bitter?
Try:
⚙️ Coarser grind
🌡️ Slightly cooler water
💧 Gentler pouring
Sweet and balanced?
❤️ Keep the recipe.
⚖️ Cross-Sell – Brewing Scale
The AIR includes useful visual measurements, but a proper coffee scale makes recipe development much easier.
Use it to monitor:
🫘 Coffee dose
💧 Water weight
⏱️ Brew time
📊 Brew ratio
A good starting combination is:
15 g coffee → 250 g water
Then adjust according to flavour.
☕ Cross-Sell – Hario V60
The obvious companion.
The V60's open cone design gives the brewer enormous control over extraction—but that also means pouring technique matters.
The AIR makes it easier to learn:
💧 Controlled flow
⭕ Circular pours
🎯 Centre pours
🌀 Deliberate agitation
without immediately investing in a premium electric kettle.
🔀 Hario Switch
Combine the AIR with a Hario Switch and you can explore:
💧 Percolation
🔒 Immersion
🧪 Hybrid recipes
The Switch reduces dependence on perfect pouring technique, while the AIR still gives you precise water placement when you want it.
Great for experimentation.
🚀 NextLevel Pulsar Mini
The Pulsar Mini is another fascinating pairing.
Its dispersion cap means you don't strictly need a perfect gooseneck pour, but the AIR remains useful for:
⚖️ Accurate small-volume recipes
🎒 Compact travel setups
💧 Controlled filling
🧪 Experimental brewing
Both products are small, light and designed around one-cup specialty coffee.
⚙️ Pair It with a Travel Grinder
An AIR plus hand grinder makes a fantastic compact brewing kit.
Good partners include:
✈️ Hario Smart G PRO
Compact steel-burr hand grinder with excellent value for travel.
⚙️ Comandante X25
For significantly higher-end grind quality and serious specialty-coffee brewing.
Add:
📄 Filters
⚖️ Small scale
☕ Dripper
🫘 Fresh coffee
and you have a very capable travel café.
