Aeropress XL reusable Filter

Full Flacvor, Zero Waste

🔧🎛️🛠️ AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap XL — zero-bypass control for endless recipes

Brew like a champion barista with the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap XL. The open/close tab lets you slow or completely stop drip-through, giving you full control over brew time, grind size, and extraction. It’s the easiest way to turn your AeroPress XL into a zero-bypass steep-and-release brewer — from clean daily cups to bold espresso-style and cold brew concentrate.

✅ Works with paper filters and metal filters

✅ Fits AeroPress XL coffee makers (same fit as other XL accessories)

✅ BPA-free and phthalate-free

✅ Why we love it at WB.coffee (CoffeeNose 👃)

This cap removes the biggest variable in AeroPress brewing: uncontrolled dripping. With Flow Control you can steep as long as you want, then release and press when you’re ready — consistent, repeatable, and incredibly fun for experimenting with recipes.

CoffeeNose tip: Use brew time as your strength dial. Longer steep = stronger extraction (and usually more caffeine extracted), shorter steep = lighter and brighter.

☕ Strength vs caffeine

Strength = how concentrated your coffee feels (watery vs syrupy).

Caffeine is different: caffeine generally increases with longer contact time. That’s why overnight cold brew tends to extract the most caffeine.

📋 Brew recipes

1) Daily Steep (XL) — 1:15

  • Coffee: 39 g
  • Water: 590 g
  • Water temp: 92–96°C
  • Steep (cap closed): 2:30–4:00
  • Break the crust (after 30sec gently stirr top 3cm only)
  • Press: 30–60 sec

Taste: clean, balanced, low bypass.

2) Bigger body / Iced (XL) — 1:18

  • Coffee: 33 g
  • Water: 590 g
  • Water temp: 88–94°C
  • Steep: 3:00–5:00
  • Break the crust (after 30sec gently stirr top 3cm only)
  • Press: 45–75 sec

Taste: rounder, smoother, more body.

3) ☕ CoffeeNose 👃 Zero Bypass recipe (Balanced) — 1:16.5

  • Coffee: 36 g
  • Water: 590 g
  • Water temp: 94–96°C
  • Steep (tab closed): 1:00
  • Break the crust (after 30sec gently stirr top 3cm only)
  •  Use as a gravity drip brewer: open tab after 1:00
  • Adjust your grind size for a total brew time of 2:30-3:30 (inlcuding full immersion first 1:00)

Balanced sweetness + clarity. Perfect daily driver when you want a clean, “competition-style” steep-and-release cup.

4) 👃 Cold Brew Concentrate — 1:4

  • Coffee: 150 g
  • Cold water: 600 g
  • Steep: 12–18 hours (fridge or cool room)
  • Filter/press and store cold

Dilution guide: start 1:2 (concentrate:water) or use milk for iced lattes.

For more ideas, see our Tips from the CoffeeNose cold brew concentrate guide.

5) Cold Brew — 1:12

  • Coffee: 50 g
  • Cold water: 600 g
  • Steep: 12–18 hours (fridge or cool room)
  • Filter: open the tab, let drip into vessel and store cold

With a bit of lemon juice of citric acid powder you can store the cold brew  for 5 days easily and give it a refreshing twist.

🔍 Dial-in shortcuts (fast fixes)

  • Too strong / bitter → shorten steep time first (keep ratio), or grind coarser
  • Too weak / sour → extend steep time, or grind finer
  • Want more sweetness → steep longer, then dilute with cool water for a softer mouthfeel

💡Tip from the CoffeeNose👃

Aeropress is a great brewing device and allows you to experiment with extraction time, grind size, ratio, temperature and other variables. It almost never happens that you screw up so badly that your coffee is not - at least - ok.

I reccomend the flow control adaptor for easy full immersion brewing. Use the paper filter for more delicate flavor notes and a soft, silky moutfeel and us the metal filter for stronger coffees, concentrates and bolder flavors.

With full immersion use 18gr of coffee and you can pour 300ml of water of 96 degrees celcius. With the flow control adaptor or fellow prismo just press after 2-5min (experiment!). Press slowly. If pressing goes to easily grind finer.

With the standard filter holder pour 50ml on the 18gr ground coffee on the first pour and give it a gentle swirl to make sure all grounds are absorbing water. After 20-30 seconds pour 100ml. Break the crust on the top with a spoon/spatula. After 30 sec pour the remaining 150ml. Your brew should be finished in 3-5 min. Just be patient for the last bit and don't get temted to press. With this method we don't press at all! Just let it drip.
